Initial Training Defrosting, Anti-icing

Personnal Concerned

Personnel from airlines or handling companies involved in de-icing operations. Personnel wishing to acquire knowledge of aircraft defrosting.

Objectives

– Acquire the necessary and mandatory skills for aircraft de-icing and anti-icing operations (forecasts, operations and checks).

– Give trainees the regulations in force (EASA and AEA), decision-making information for triggering de-icing or anti-icing operations and evaluation of the protection time.

This training complies with the program published by the European Air Carriers Association (AEA)

– EU OPS, ISO, SAE and AEA regulations

– Notions of aerodynamics and aircraft performance

– Effects of frost, ice, snow, slush or fluids on aircraft performance

– Concepts of meteorology and reading of forecasts (TAF/METAR)

– Airplane camp in icing conditions

– The different products used

– Materials used (Individual equipment and implementation of vehicles)

– General techniques for removing frost, ice and snow deposits

– Control of the plane after treatment

– Communication with the crew of the operations carried out (Standard ICAO phraseology)

– Practical exercises on de-icing equipment and aircraft

– Recording of operations on the appropriate documentation

– Safety and environmental rules concerning the application of fluids

– Responsibilities of the different actors (decision, execution and control)
